The County of Dukes County will hold a Public Hearing on August 13, 2008 at 5pm at the County Administration Building to review and adopt new Beach Regulations for Joseph Sylvia State Beach and Private Party Regulations.
Based on the previous public hearing the County has simplified the proposed regulations. The County has divided the permit application into two groups. No permit is required for groups less than 50. Events anticipating more than 50 participants or the use of a private caterer will require a permit. The permit can be obtained by contacting the County Manager who will set specific conditions for the use of the beach. This will include but not be limited to the hours of use, police details, porta-potties and liability insurance requirements.
Other general provisions of these regulations are:
· State law prohibits alcohol on the beach.
· State law prohibits dogs on state beaches between April 1st and August 31st
· No kites and balloons
· Gas grills only, no charcoal grills.
· No vehicles on the beach, with exception to shell-fishermen on the Pond side.
