The County of Dukes County is currently involved in a program to monitor the mosquito population on the Island.
The State wide program has originated with the Department of Public Health. The County Pest Control Program with funding and cooperation of the six Towns Boards of Health is participating in the capture and testing of mosquitoes.
Four sites are monitored weekly. The sites rotate in a schedule developed with the Boards of Health. The captured mosquitoes are tested for West Nile Virus and Triple E. The program is scheduled for 10 weeks.
