The County of Dukes County is seeking qualified bidders to refurbish and/or replace 14 double hung windows at the Dukes County Courthouse on Main Street in Edgartown, which is on both the federal and state Register of Historic Places. The successful applicant must be able to document an extensive experience in working on historic buildings and experience and licenses to address removal and disposal of lead paint and other hazardous materials; and have knowledge of the requirements of the Historic District Commission. The bid package contains three classes of repairs (Items 3-5) depending on the condition of each window as well as an item (#6) for glass replacement. All work must be performed outside of the regular courthouse hours, which will require work after hours and on weekends. Submitted bids will be assessed based on price, the ability to prove prior historic restoration experience, the ability to address the hazardous materials and the ability to perform the work around the continued use of the courthouse.
