The county is looking for assistance with the Point In Time (PIT) count of unsheltered persons on Martha's Vineyard. We are trying to locate and account for as many people as possible. Any information provided to us will be treated as confidential and will only be used to reach out in the next couple of days to people who were "unsheltered" on the night of January 28th.
IMPORTANT: Information collected is used for statistical purposes only and will be treated as confidential. Participation is voluntary and refusal to participate will not result in any refusal of services.
HUD defines UNSHELTERED HOMELESS as INDIVIDUALS including unaccompanied youth, and FAMILIES “with a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings including a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train station, airport, or camping ground, or on the street.”
Sleeping accomodations that would apply on MV:
1. Street or sidewalk
2. Vehicle (car, van, RV, Truck)
3. Park or cemetery
4. Abandoned Building
5. Bus, bus station, airport
6. Under bridges/overpasses
7. Woods, outdoor encampments
