Adult Primary Care:
There are several options for adults seeking primary care (for a routine or urgent need, but not for a medical emergency) on the Vineyard.
Island Health Care provides adult primary and urgent medical care to Island residents and visitors, with or without health insurance. Free care and sliding-scale fees are available. Evening and weekend hours; same-day care is an option.

Vineyard Medical Services offers both walk-in service and appointments. The walk-in clinic is held every morning from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m (call to confirm hours); patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are available in the afternoon.

Vineyard Pediatrics provides pediatric primary and urgent care to Island residents and visitors. Morning walk-in clinic Monday -Friday; call for hours.

Martha’s Vineyard Hospital is a 15-bed Critical Access Hospital that houses the Island’s only Emergency Department. Additional services include Acute Care, Intensive Care, Laboratory, Primary Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery, Rehabilitation, Substance Abuse, Nutrition and more.

Mental Health :
There are numerous mental health providers in private practice on the Vineyard. Check the yellow pages for listings under Psychologists and Psychotherapists.
Island Counseling Center is an active program of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.~The staff is comprised of licensed social workers, licensed psychologists, licensed mental health counselors, a clinical nurse specialist, and a psychiatrist/medical director.~ A full range of services is provided within the outpatient mental health and substance abuse programs, including individual, family, couple, group, and case consultation services.~
