What is WIC?

The WIC Nutrition Program keeps pregnant and breastfeeding women and kids under 5 healthy. WIC is a nutrition program that provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other services, free of charge, to Massachusetts families who qualify.

Who Can Apply?

You can participate in WIC if you:

  • Live in Massachusetts
  • Have a nutritional need (a DCSS social worker can help you determine this)
  • Are a child under 5, a new mom, or a pregnant or breastfeeding woman
  • Have a family income less than WIC guidelines

WIC has certain income guidelines. You should review the WIC eligibility chart below to find the guideline that applies to your household.

You are automatically income eligible for WIC if you currently receive:

  • MassHealth/Medicaid insurance plans
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC) or cash assistance
